Mercy Corps Climate Resilience fund
In 2024 Mercy Corps launched a climate-resilient fund. ORFL decided to support this fund as the Climate Possible campaign aims to build climate resilience in communities globally. The initiative seeks to support millions of people in adapting to climate change impacts through proactive responses, renewable energy, and regenerative agricultural practices. The campaign aims to mobilise resources to assist underserved communities, particularly in emerging markets, where the effects of climate change are most severe.
The organization emphasizes the importance of innovative entrepreneurs in developing scalable, tech-driven solutions for climate adaptation. Mercy Corps Ventures focuses on three key areas: adaptive agriculture, climate-smart technologies, and inclusive fintech. By investing in diverse, locally-led initiatives, especially those founded by women, the organization aims to foster sustainable business models that can withstand climate shocks. Their approach includes providing early-stage capital and post-investment support to help startups navigate challenges and maximize their impact.
To date, Mercy Corps Ventures has made significant strides, investing in over 47 startups they plan to positively impact more than 20 million people. The campaign is designed not only to fund immediate relief efforts but also to develop long-term resilience strategies. By scaling innovative solutions and fostering collaborations with the private sector, Mercy Corps envisions a future where communities can thrive despite the ongoing climate crisis.
